As the weather finally descends into the cold of Winter we are now only 3 months away from the 2016 summer season. I say “summer” season because the U14s are already hard at work indoors, making their debut in the winter indoor league. It seems only yesterday that “The Little People” played their first game as the club launched our youth team structure with the introduction of U11s cricket. Fixtures are available on the website if anyone would like to go to a game.
There are a few important changes to membership this year, as follows:
1. We agreed at the AGM that there should be an U18s equivalent of the current £100 cap on membership and match fees for adults to play as much cricket as they like. So, starting this year, an equivalent membership for those U18 and below for this season will be available, price £65. Payment should be made before the first weekend league match. Both rates include pre-season nets, internet access (wifi code), all match fees and annual membership.
2. The cost of annual membership will remain the same at £15 for those paying before the end of February. After then it will rise to £20. The relatively cheap membership fees at CDCC, compared to other clubs, is something that we feel is important to keep but at the same time we want to encourage early payment which will help with budgeting throughout the year.
3. Annual membership will now include internet access via the pavilion’s wifi connection at CDCC. As before, the price also includes pre-season indoor nets/training.
There will be 5 pre-season nets sessions starting on Wednesday nights 7:30pm – 9pm, after half term as follows:
Wed 24th Feb
Wed 2nd Mar
Wed 9th Mar
Wed 16th Mar
Wed 23rd Mar
I will gladly take membership payments at the first session which will be in time for the reduced rate.
Tommy’s weekend maintenance crew will be back in action this Sunday 24th Jan and continue every other weekend, alternating Saturdays and Sundays, until the beginning of the season. The focus this weekend will be on clearing the area around the nets and then we will move back to the bank above the road. There is an enormous amount to do around the ground so please pick some weekends to get out for a couple of hours to help out.
We will also be organising the usual annual maintenance weekend nearer the season.
Some of the youth teams are involved in indoor matches over the next few weeks so if you are interested to see what they are up to and the get a look at indoor cricket they would love your support. Details of fixtures will be on the website in the next day or two.
